Book contains 16 selected chapters focusing on the analysis of techniques for producing a range of composite materials. The text presents experimental and theoretical information about critical steps in composite manufacturing designed to improve processes, tooling, and parts. The first part of the book investigates modeling and process parameters for many shapes of thermosets using RTM, VARTM and CRTM. Subsequent chapters focus on thermoplastics, including FEM analysis, preforms, and process optimization. The book concludes with new processes, for example, vacuum-bag-only prepregs (VBO) for out-of-autoclave (OOA) fabrication of aerospace composites. The volume offers novel strategies for monitoring the fabrication of composites and provides ways to solve technical difficulties with fiber impregnation, distribution, resin flow, porosity and more.
