- Over 130 original chapters of new research
- Graphene, nanocomposites, rapid manufacturing, SHM, smart materials, biocomposites, vacuum infusion, hierarchical composites and more
- Applications to aircraft, wind turbines, body armor, boatbuilding, and water treatment
This proceedings series volume comprises 132 chapters of recent scientific work in all areas of composite materials, with a focus on technologies likely to enhance composites in the foreseeable future. Such technologies, which are represented extensively in the book, include rapid manufacturing, strategies for multifunctionality, novel biobased composites, hybrid composites, and nano reinforcements. Research in this volume was first presented at the ICCST-9 conference held in Italy in spring 2013 and sponsored by Boeing, with numerous chapters focused on testing, damage and SHM in aircraft (e.g., helicopters), as well as in emerging applications like water treatment.
