From the start of a project, DEStech's editorial and marketing staff work with the editor or author of a publication to determine the book or CD-ROM's readership and how the manuscript will meet the demands and interest of readers. At the same time, DEStech's marketing staff will work out a plan for promoting the project to the intended readers to generate and maximize sales.

 

DEStech recognizes that the publishing process continues through the publicity and sale of a finished book. That's why we:

 

    Set up and execute direct-mail advertising campaigns to specialists throughout the world.

    Arrange for book sales to online bookstores.

    Promote books to libraries and corporations directly and through wholesalers and distributors.

    Create publicity through reviews and news releases.

    Work to create residual income from derivative documents such as translations or abridgements.

SALES

 

Due to the specialized nature of most of our technical books, our primary sales are achieved through direct business-to-consumer marketing efforts such as mailings, catalogs, and e-blasts. However, we do market our books through online retailers as well as through space advertising and conference attendance.

 

Because we store our books and other products on-site, each book that leaves the DEStech warehouse is given personal attention. We stock and ship each book, fulfill orders, maintain customer contacts, and track sales.

Proceedings Sales and Marketing

In contrast to most producers of conference proceedings and sponsored publications, DEStech publishes what it produces, that is, it advertises its publications to a targeted audience, generating revenue from sales. Its publishing support includes stocking, shipping and order fulfillment. These activities are automatic for authors or can be selected by society and corporate clients who contract for proceedings, sponsored or custom publications.
